About this Guide
This guide was created to help those living in the Residence Halls with information from our Self-Service Articles, Service pages, and Tech Tips to bring you a summary of what you need to know in the Residence Halls in regards to technology and services our division supports.
What to bring
We recommend you review the Residential Life page for full details on what to bring. However, when it comes to technology there are some devices you will not be able to use at FIT such as wireless printers and smart assistants like Amazon Echo (Alexa) and Google Home.
Internet
FITAIR is FIT’s wireless network. FITAIR is available in each of the Residence Halls. Additionally, there is an ethernet jack for each resident in a room, Tech Tip you may have to move furniture to locate the data jack for wired connections.
What devices can I connect at FIT?
Only devices that support the 802.1x standard for authentication can connect to the FIT Wireless network at this time. Many game consoles do have wireless connection capabilities, but most do not support the 802.1x standard. For devices that do not support 802.1x, they can only be connected using an ethernet cable and data jack. Some devices may require an ethernet adapter to use an ethernet cable. Review full list.
