Longer passwords (15 characters) for better security

To further improve the security of FIT systems and data, we are moving to a longer password requirement and adopting a passphrase to access FIT services such as Adobe, Brightspace, MyFIT, Google Workspace. 

Effective March 11, 2025, new passwords must be 15 characters or longer. 

Existing passwords will remain valid until they expire or are manually changed. When the password expires or is changed, the new password must be 15 characters or longer. 

The password’s complexity requirements (e.g., usage of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters) have stayed the same.

We encourage users to use a passphrase as the password so it is longer and easier to remember. Please view Tips for creating a strong passphrase.

If you haven’t already done so, please register for the Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) to enable account recovery and avoid being locked out of your FIT account.
