How to use FIT’s video conferencing platforms

What is Google Meet
Google Meet is available to enrolled students, staff, and faculty members at FIT. The in-browser video application can connect participants via computer, smartphones and tablets, and via dial-in numbers for telephone access.  Recording to Google Drive and live closed captioning is also available in each session.

How to host a meeting
Visit meet.google.com and sign-in with your FIT email credentials.

In Google Calendar, quickly add video conferencing with Google Meet to your meeting invitations. Follow the latest instructions from Google at https://support.google.com/meet/answer/9302870

What is Cisco Webex
Cisco Webex is available to enrolled students, staff, and faculty members at FIT.  The full-featured conferencing platform can connect up to 1,000 worldwide participants per session via computer for webcams and screen-sharing, on smartphones and tablets, through professional video systems, and via global dial-in numbers for telephone access.  Hosts can share meeting and content controls, and high-definition online recording with automatic transcription is available in each session.

How to host a meeting
Visit fitnyc.webex.com and sign-in with your FIT email credentials, either through an automatic redirect through MyFIT or by choosing the Google option on the Sign-In button there.

In Google Calendar, quickly add Video Conferencing with a Webex Meeting or your persistent Personal Meeting Room.

Webex Meetings are best for recurring class sessions, group meetings, or special topic discussions, whereas Webex Personal Rooms are great for scheduling virtual office hours on your calendar.
