Eclipse Viewing Today
A safe viewing of the partial solar eclipse that will be visible in New York City this Monday, August 21 will take place in the FIT/Infor Design and Tech Lab, located on the first floor of the Feldman Center. A live feed from the FIT roof will be streamed to two large screens. Members of the community are invited to stop by between 1:23 pm and 4 pm to witness the event.
According to NASA, the moon will begin to cover the sun at 1:23 pm and will reach its maximum coverage at 2:44 pm for the New York area. The moon will then continue moving off of the sun until 4 pm, at which point the sun will be completely visible again.
Remember: Looking directly at the sun during the eclipse without proper eyewear can harm your eyes.
If you are unable to attend the viewing at the FIT/Infor Design and Tech Lab, you can view it live at https://youtu.be/gBzfJuyPA6o or NASA will be streaming the eclipse online at this website: eclipse2017.nasa.gov/eclipse-live-stream.
