No doubt you’ve been on one end of this conversation. Cell tower signals cannot or are weakened when trying to penetrate through the layers of concrete and other building materials to reach subterranean levels.
As of Monday, January 30, 2017, there will be cell coverage in all basements and sub-basement areas in all academic buildings and dormitories. To address the concerns about public safety and general convenience, IT for FIT worked over the winter recess to install antennas and other devices to increase the signal strength from cell towers throughout the buildings to ensure cell service is possible.
