We continue to troubleshoot issues with the dorm wireless. I understand many of the issues have been resolved and students are experiencing a better wireless experience.
While troubleshooting continues it is imperative that students don’t unplug the wireless access points that may be located in their rooms or nearby hallways. The entire wireless infrastructure is designed in a grid environment that allows the access points to communicate with each other. If even one access point is unplugged it effects the capacity of all others, causing wireless access problems with other dorm students.
The technology can detect when a laptop or other device has been plugged into a wireless access point wall jack, rendering the jack inoperative, so a student’s device will not work.
Thanks for your patience as we strive to resolve all of the wireless issues.
